Camie Leard Band

Blues, Rock, R&B, Soul

About

With its roots firmly planted in the Blues, the Camie Leard Band branches into soul, funk, southern rock and classic R&B.

Influenced by artists ranging from Aretha Franklin to the Allman brothers, the Camie Leard Band weaves its way through the sweet and sultry torch song through to a laid-back funky groove and a driving blues rocker.

Fronted by the charismatic Camie Leard and her powerhouse vocals, CLB puts together a group of accomplished musicians who each bring their own brand of soul to the stage including Tim Martin on guitar, Johnny Gozde on drums, Richard Erickson on bass and, often featuring Brandon Smith on keys. For larger shows, the band adds Richard Harding on saxophone and Andre Wickenheiser on trumpet to round out the big soul sound.

The Camie Leard Band released its first studio album, Come out of the Blue, in December 2013 under Camie Leard. The band followed up with a live Christmas EP in 2014 and continues to develop new original music.

Johnny Gozde Drums

Johnny Gozde

Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Johnny has been playing music almost his entire life. His first gig, at 18 months old, was playing maracas with a band in Cuba on a family trip. Though he started on piano and guitar, he quickly found his calling on drums and percussion.

After several years of playing jazz, Johnny branched out into more mainstream genres while never really shaking off the improvisational style and jazz instincts. Realizing that singers seemed to draw more attention from the crowd, he began vocal training and found a niche as a drummer/singer double threat.

Tim Martin

Tim Martin

Tim hails from Chatham, Ontario and was inspired to pick up the guitar by the late 70’s hard rock and early 80’s metal prevalent on Detroit radio stations at the time.  Before long he was playing in bars and clubs and heavily influenced by the blues-based music of Stevie Ray Vaughan and the Allman Brothers Band.

Versatile in many styles and types of music, Tim achieved an honours degree in classical guitar from the University of Waterloo. He spent ten years as the head of the guitar department at the Merriam School of Music, has toured Canada in many original rock, funk and blues projects, and played sessions on countless independent recordings.
